Traffic Stop Results in Felony Drug Arrest
Police Department (MPD) responded to an Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) alert in the
area of River Highway near Barrington Drive. The alert was generated by a Felony Vehicle
whose registered owner was wanted by the Concord Police Department for (F) Flee to Elude,
(M) Resisting a Public Officer, and (M) Expired Registration.
MPD Officers located the vehicle traveling I-77 Southbound and conducted a traffic stop near
Exit 31/Langtree Road. The driver of the vehicle was found to be the wanted person and was
placed under arrest without incident. Subsequent searches resulted in Officers seizing 1.8 pounds
of marijuana and edible gummies and $4,760 in suspected drug proceeds.
Christopher Alton Bethea, 31 years old, of Charlotte was charged with (F) Possession with Intent
to Sell or Deliver marijuana and (F) Maintaining a Vehicle to keep/sell/use a controlled
substance. Bethea was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $22,000 secured
bond.
