Fugitive Charged After Multi-agency Manhunt.
MOORESVILLE, NC – On the morning of Wednesday, September 13, 2023, Mooresville Police
Department (MPD) personnel assigned to the US Marshals taskforce received notification that a
fugitive wanted in Georgia on multiple warrants was believed to be in MPD’s jurisdiction.
MPD located the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle fled, and MPD
pursued the vehicle into Troutman. MPD requested assistance of Troutman Police Department,
Iredell County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO), and NC Highway Patrol, all of which responded.
The suspect abandoned the vehicle on Rankin Hill Road in area of Sorrel Lane. After an
extensive search by law enforcement—aided by K9 units, drones, and helicopter—the suspect
was apprehended by MPD and ICSO officers without incident.
Adrian Bentley, 32 years old of Grantville, GA, was charged with (F) Flee to Elude, two counts
of Fugitive from Justice (Georgia), Speeding, Reckless Driving, and Driving without a License.
Bond for the (F) Flee to Elude charge was set at $15,000. Bond for Fugitive charges was set at
$250,000. Bentley was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a total $265,000
secured bond.
Bentley has a Georgia parole violation for False Imprisonment, Terroristic Threats, Obstruction
of Justice, Removal/Attempted Removal of Weapon from Public Official, and Sexual Battery.
He has an active Georgia warrant for two counts of Aggravated Assault.
MPD would like to thank Troutman Police Department, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, NC
Highway Patrol and Mooresville Fire-Rescue for their assistance. MPD would also thanks Iredell
County Fraternal Order of Police—Lodge 10 for providing water to law enforcement during the
search.
