Stolen Vehicle Alerts Results in Multiple Arrests



MOORESVILLE, NC – Automatic license plate reader (ALPR) alerts for stolen vehicles resulted in Mooresville Police Department (MPD) arresting three individuals and serving more than 20 outstanding warrants.

On August 22, 2024, at 12:41 p.m., MPD Officers received an ALPR alert pursuant to a stolen motor vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 150. Officers located the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Highway 150/River Highway and Williamson Road and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. 

The suspect vehicle fled and was pursued by Officers south on Williamson Road. The driver abandoned the vehicle in a parking lot and fled on foot towards the Fountains Apartments but was apprehended by a MPD K9 and taken into custody without further incident. 

The driver, Omarion Khibre Hinson, 19, of Albemarle, was found to have outstanding warrants out of Stanly County for (M) Probation violation, Failure to Appear for (M) Probation Violation, Failure to Appear for (F) Larceny of a Firearm, Failure to Appear for (F) Conspiracy, and Failure to Appear for (F) Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle. Hinson was charged with (F) Flee to Elude, (F) Possession of Stolen Goods, (M) Careless and Reckless Driving, (M) Resist, Delay, and Obstruct, and (M) Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance. Hinson was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under no bond for MPD charges and a $160,000 secured bond for the outstanding warrants.
