Arrest Following Warrant Service

MOORESVILLE, NC – On July 24, 2025, Mooresville Police Department (MPD) officers received a call about an active vehicle fire. Upon further investigation by responding officers and the Mooresville Fire-Rescue fire marshal, it was determined the vehicle was intentionally set on fire by Clayton Morrison Broyhill, 27, of Mooresville. A victim was inside the vehicle at the time the fire was set but was able to exit the vehicle without serious injury. Warrants were subsequently obtained for Broyhill’s arrest.

On July 28, 2025, MPD detectives and the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force attempted to serve these arrest warrants on Clayton Broyhill after confirming his location. Detectives and Marshals attempted to call Broyhill out of the residence, but he refused to comply and exit the residence. MPD’s Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were activated and successfully talked Broyhill into coming out of the residence.

Broyhill was arrested and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Burning Personal Property, Communicating Threats, and Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence. After a search of the residence, Broyhill was also charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
