Arrest for Kidnapping

MOORESVILLE, NC – On July 24, 2025, Mooresville Police Department (MPD) officers

responded to a possible kidnapping of a 4-year-old child. Officers determined that the child was

in the Iredell County Department of Social Services' custody but was staying with a relative when the

child’s mother, Haley Ervin, 30, of Mooresville, went to the relative’s residence and took the

child without permission. On July 25, 2025, MPD detectives, with the assistance of the Rowan

County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant at an address in Rowan County. Haley Ervin

and the child were located at the residence. Ervin was arrested for First Degree Kidnapping and

was transported to Iredell County Jail and held on no bond. The child was returned to the custody

of the Iredell County Department of Social Services.
