MSI Defense Solutions Showcases Anti-drone System Built in Mooresville
MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Last week, MSI Defense Solutions welcomed Town of Mooresville
leadership and local media to its Mooresville facilities to showcase the company’s anti-drone and
missile defense solution, which is currently deployed and protecting U.S. Armed Forces.
EAGLS™ (Electronic Advanced Ground Launcher System) is a lightweight, mobile, and radar-
enabled counter-UAS system detects, tracks, and neutralizes unmanned aerial systems, or drones.
Brought from concept to deployment in under 180 days, the system is built locally in
Mooresville.
“EAGLS reflects the region’s unique combination of engineering talent, motorsports-driven
manufacturing expertise, and a culture of rapid problem solving,” said Nguyen Trinh, CEO of
MSI. “That is a real testament to the skills we have here in Mooresville. We’re going to continue
doing great things.”
According to Town officials, EAGLS epitomizes the Town’s goal of being a hub for advanced
defense manufacturing and innovation. It showcases how a company leaned into its motorsports
experience, utilized existing and future talent, and leveraged its capabilities to support the U.S.
military and the safety of our country.
“We want national and international businesses to know that the Town of Mooresville has the
infrastructure, talent, and rich history of engineering and innovation that makes us a desirable
location for manufacturing and operations,” said Town of Mooresville Mayor Chris Carney.
MSI was the recent recipient of the Governor’s Export Award of Excellence. Presented through
the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina and North Carolina’s Office of the
Governor, the award recognizes North Carolina companies demonstrating outstanding success in
expanding international sales and strengthening global partnerships.
Added Carney, “These specialized industries can bring in high-quality jobs and have an
economic impact that benefits our entire community.”
The marriage of motorsports and military technology is not new to Mooresville. Corvid
Technologies, also headquartered in Mooresville, provides solutions to both the Missile Defense
Agency and NASCAR.
In September 2025, Carney, along with a delegation of state elected officials, visited Finland to
identify potential growth partnerships in defense manufacturing and key technology areas such
as advanced unmanned aerial systems, cybersecurity, and the integration of digital engineering
into defense manufacturing processes. The Finland visit resulted in the establishment of a
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Town and the Town of Riihimäki to
collaborate on aerospace and defense development.
