Police Make Two Stolen Vehicle Arrests

MOORESVILLE, NC – On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, Mooresville Police Department (MPD) Officers made two arrests for larceny of a motor vehicle with assistance from the department’s automatic license plate reader (ALPR) system. At approximately 7:08 a.m., MPD Officers responded to the area of River Highway/I-77 pursuant to an ALPR hit of a black Chevy Camaro reported stolen out of Winston-Salem. MPD Officers located the vehicle and completed a vehicle stop without incident. The driver of the vehicle, James Dilorenzo, 32, of Winston-Salem, was charged with (F) Larceny of a Motor Vehicle. Dilorenzo was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center without bond. At approximately 11:32 a.m., MPD Officers responded to the area of Fairview Road and U.S. Highway 21 pursuant to an ALPR hit of a black Chevy HHR reported stolen out of Charlotte. MPD Officers located the vehicle and, based on information that the driver of the vehicle had five active warrants from Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department

Fire Marshal’s Office Investigating Pink Orchard Drive Fire

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at approximately 4:45 a.m., Mooresville Fire-Rescue (MFR) responded to a residential structure fire on Pink Orchard Drive in the Cherry Grove neighborhood. One residence was heavily damaged, and another residence had minor exterior damage. No civilians or firefighters were injured, and three occupants were displaced. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the MFR Fire Marshal’s Office.

Mooresville Fire-Rescue to Relaunch Explorers Program for Teens

MOORESVILLE, NC – Mooresville Fire-Rescue is excited to announce the return of the Mooresville Fire-Rescue (MFR) Explorers Program. This program provides 14–18-year-olds invaluable experience and knowledge of the fire service, including what our firefighters do every day. Teens interested in the program can attend an Open House on May 25, 2024, from 9 a.m.-noon, at the Fire Training Center (2523 Charlotte Highway). Explorers will get an in-person, hands-on experience as a firefighter, including training alongside MFR firefighters, riding along in the fire truck to various calls, and getting a better understanding of how rewarding it is to serve and protect our community. Firefighter Brian Borst is a graduate of the MFR Explorers Program and encourages any interested teens to apply. He says the program opened his eyes to what firefighters do, beyond what people see in movies. “I learned everything about turnout gear, fire trucks, extinguishers, water cans, just all your different tools.

Mooresville to hold National Police Week Ceremony May 15

MOORESVILLE, NC – The Mooresville Police Department (MPD) and the Exchange Club of Mooresville/Lake Norman will hold a National Police Week Ceremony on Wednesday, May 15 at 10 a.m. on the lawn of Town Hall, 413 N. Main Street, Mooresville. The event will honor and remember all law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, including MPD’s three fallen officers—Chief of Police James Rimmer (EOW December 7, 1938), and Detective Lieutenant Larry Barger (EOW July 13, 1974), and K9 Officer Jordan Sheldon (EOW May 4, 2019). The ceremony is open to the public. National Police Week is May 12, 2024—May 18, 2024, and National Peace Officer Memorial Day is observed on May 15.

Mooresville Man Charged with Attempted Murder

MOORESVILLE, NC – On Friday, April 26, 2024, at approximately 7:05 a.m., Mooresville Police Department (MPD) Officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call at 627 Spruce Street, Mooresville. Upon arriving on scene, MPD Officers found the victim who had been assaulted with a hammer and screwdriver in a shed behind the residence. The victim as well as witnesses on scene identified Tymir Lowe as a suspect. MPD Officers began a search for the suspect, locating the suspect in response to a suspicious person call. Lowe was taken into custody without incident, and the victim was transported to CMC Main. Tymir Tyvay Lowe, 32 of Mooresville, was charged with (F) Attempted Murder and was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center without bond.

MPD Requesting Public Assistance in Stolen Motorcycle Case

MOORESVILLE, NC – Detectives with the Mooresville Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a stolen 2020 Yamaha R6 and carry-on utility trailer. On April 4, 2024, an unknown suspect driving a Chevy Silverado stole a utility trailer hauling a black 2020 Yamaha R6 from the Parian Apartments. The suspect vehicle is described as a late 1990’s or early 2000’s grey/blue Chevy Silverado with black front fenders, silver/white hood, and a silver/white bed cover. From video footage, it appears that the truck is also missing its rear bumper.
