MPD Makes Fentanyl Trafficking Arrest
MOORESVILLE, NC – On November 1, 2023, Concord Police Department (CPD) requested
assistance from Mooresville Police Department (MPD) Detectives in locating 35-year-old Xavier
Antwone Blackwood who had outstanding warrants from CPD for Trafficking Fentanyl and
Manufacturing a Controlled Substance.
MPD Detectives located Blackwood at 412 E. McLelland Avenue and took him into custody
without incident on November 1, 2023. At the time of his arrest, Blackwood was found to be in
possession of a small amount of marijuana and quantity of unknown powder-type substances.
Blackwood was turned over to CPD and the items recovered during the arrest were placed into
evidence at MPD. The unknown substances were sent to a lab for analysis, and the results came
back as Fentanyl (more than four grams) and Cocaine.
On November 21, 2023, MPD Detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of Blackwood for (F)
Trafficking in Fentanyl, two counts of (F) Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Controlled
Substance within 1000 ft of a park, (M) Possession of Marijuana, and two counts of (M)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Xavier Blackwood has an extensive criminal history including convictions for attempted (F)
Trafficking in opiates or heroin, (F) Possession with Intent to Sell a Schedule 2 Controlled
Substance, four counts of (F) Possession of a Firearm by a convicted felon, and a Federal
conviction for (F) Sell Cocaine. He was most recently released in May 2022 from the North
Carolina Department of Corrections after serving a term of 29 months for trafficking convictions.
On November 26, 2023, the warrant was served on Blackwood by the Cabarrus County Sheriff
Department. Blackwood was released on a $500,000 unsecured bond by Cabarrus County.
