MPD Makes Drug Trafficking Arrest
MOORESVILLE, NC – On December 1, 2023, Mooresville Police Department Officers were
dispatched to the area of W. Wilson Avenue in reference to a call of reckless driving involving a
truck spinning tires and traveling at a high rate of speed. While enroute to the scene, MPD
Communications received a report of a similar vehicle being involved in a traffic crash on
Hillside Drive. Upon their arrival, Officers found a 2023 Ford F-150 in the woods off the side of
the roadway. Officers located the driver, 28-year-old Talian Jacques Troutman, walking away
from the scene of the crash.
When Officers reached the truck, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the
vehicle. Based on the odor, a search of the vehicle was conducted. Inside the truck, Officers
located approximately 65 grams of cocaine, 30 grams of fentanyl, 100 grams of marijuana, 35
pills of Alprazolam, a stolen 9mm pistol, and over $900 in cash.
Troutman was charged with two counts of (F) Trafficking Opiates (Fentanyl), two counts of (F)
Trafficking Cocaine, (F) Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver (PWISD) Fentanyl, (F)
PWISD Cocaine, (F) PWISD Schedule IV Controlled Substance (Alprazolam), (F) PWISD
Marijuana, (F) Maintaining a Vehicle to Keep/Sell Controlled Substance, (F) Possession of a
Firearm by a Convicted Felon, (F) Possession of a Stolen Firearm, (M) Possession of Drug
Paraphernalia. Troutman was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $2,500,000
secured bond.
Troutman has a criminal history that includes convictions for (F) PWISD Schedule IV
Controlled Substance, (F) Assault Inflicting Serious Injury on Law Enforcement/Probation
Officer, and two counts of (F) Common Law Robbery.
