Arrest Made After Vehicle and Foot Pursuit
MOORESVILLE, NC – On Monday, March 11, 2024, at 3:02 p.m., Mooresville Police
Department (MPD) Officers responded to the area of Williamson Road and Brawley School
Road pursuant to an automatic license plate reader (ALPR) hit of a vehicle reported stolen from
Denver, Colorado.
Upon arrival, Officers located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of
the vehicle refused to stop and fled westbound on Brawley School Road. In an attempt to
apprehend the driver, MPD and Iredell County Sheriff’s Office successfully deployed stop sticks
on Brawley School Road in the area of Attleboro Place and The Point Drive.
The vehicle pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle became disabled in the area of Old Post
Road and Moors End Loop. The suspect then fled on foot into the neighborhood but was
successfully tracked by an MPD K9 team. With the assistance of residents and multiple law
enforcement officers in the area, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
Gerald Deon Pendergrass, 31, of Lauderhill, Florida, who was also found to be wanted in both
Florida and Georgia, was charged with (F) Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle, (F) Flee/Elude
Arrest with a Motor Vehicle, (F) Identity Theft, (M) Hit and Run, Resisting a Public Officer, No
Operators License, Breaking and Entering, Driving While Impaired, and two counts of Fugitive
from Justice. Pendergrass received a $150,000 secured bond and was placed in the Iredell
County Detention Center.
MPD appreciates the assistance provided by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina
Highway Patrol, and residents of The Point.
