 MOORESVILLE, NC – Mooresville Police Department (MPD) is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect vehicle in a hit and run traffic fatality. On Sunday, September 15, 2024, at approximately 12:02 a.m., Mooresville Police Department (MPD) Officers responded to a reported pedestrian traffic crash on Rocky River Road between Milroy Lane and Royalton Road. After arriving on scene, Officers discovered a female had been struck by a vehicle which left the scene. Shaelyn Ellen Bell, 20 from Mooresville, was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained during the crash. During the investigation, a piece of the right, front bumper of a white 2023-2025 Kia Seltos was found at the scene. Police believe this vehicle is connected to the incident and are currently investigating vehicles which could have been in the area at the time. Nominated Mooresville Filmmaker releases trailer of his first film (short drama)

Nominated Mooresville Filmmaker Benny Vink releases the trailer of his film "A Father's Hearts"  This film is produced in the Mooresville area. This short drama will be available at the end of 2024. In the meantime, Benny Vink will teach at film making and acting to teens at the  Masterworks school of the Arts   in Mooresville.  A Father's Heart - short drama trailer Rachel wants to live without her dad instead of the locale affordable college close to home she wants to go to a college far away. One morning she decides to cut all her ties with her dad and go on her big adventure.

Two Charged Following Stolen Vehicle Pursuit

MOORESVILLE, NC – The Mooresville Police Department (MPD) brought charges and served warrants on two suspects following a stolen vehicle pursuit. On Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 10:21 a.m., MPD Officers received an Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) alert pursuant to a stolen motor vehicle traveling on Highway 150. Officers located the vehicle near Bluefield Road and attempted to make a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle fled. MPD Officers pursued the suspect vehicle on I-77 southbound to the Exit 9a/Remount Road area. One suspect fled the stopped vehicle on foot and was quickly apprehended by Officers. A total of two suspects were taken into custody by MPD.  The passenger, Skylar Raine Wilson, 18 of Fort Mill, was served with an active Common Law Robbery warrant out of Mecklenburg County. Mooresville filmmaker producer Benny Vink got nominated for his film "A Chef's Heart " at the Tokyo Short International Film Festival this was his 5th nomination before he got nominated for his film "Tomorrow's Food".

Overnight Shooting Leaves One Dead

MOORESVILLE, NC – Mooresville Police Department (MPD) Detectives are currently investigating an overnight shooting that resulted in one fatality. On September 8, 2024, at 11:14 p.m., Mooresville Police Department (MPD) Officers responded to a Discharge of Firearm call for service at Meadowlark Glen Apartments. Officers arrived on scene and found Clifton Cornelius Vandiver, 20 of Concord, with multiple gunshot wounds as a result of what appears to be an altercation between Vandiver and other parties. Vandiver was transported to Novant Huntersville where he succumbed to his injuries. MPD Detectives are actively investigating the incident, interviewing witnesses, checking cameras in the area, and looking for additional evidence at the scene. Police Searching for Missing Mooresville Teen

Mooresville Police Department Detectives are actively investigating a missing persons case for a Mooresville teen last seen in the Charlotte area.   Dalilah Kadence-Marie Taylor, 16, was reported as missing since Sunday, September 1, 2024. Taylor was last seen on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in the Sugar Creek neighborhood at several locations including a Cook Out restaurant. Based on video footage, she was last seen wearing a black shirt, black and white pajama pants, and Crocs.   If you have any information on Taylor’s whereabouts or if you see her, please contact Det. Mooresville Police Warn of Phone Scams

MOORESVILLE, NC – The Mooresville Police Department (MPD) is warning the public of ongoing phone scams in which scammers are impersonating law enforcement agencies. Scammers are impersonating MPD among other agencies by replicating real government phone numbers to appear legitimate. Scammers may reference a rank/title—often of a former MPD employee—to add credibility. The scammers are telling the victims that an arrest warrant has been issued for the victim. The scammer will then solicit money from the victim as an alternative to being arrested, most often the requested payment is in the form of cryptocurrency or gift cards.   If you happen to receive unsolicited phone calls similar in nature:  Do not feel pressured to act. Stolen Vehicle Alerts Results in Multiple Arrests

On August 22, 2024, at 2:50 p.m., MPD Officers received an automatic license plate reader (ALPR) alert pursuant to a stolen motor vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 150/W. Plaza Drive at I-77. Officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of the Home Run Market. When Officers attempted to make a traffic stop, the suspect vehicle fled south on I-77 at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the vehicle south on I-77 until encountering heavy traffic near Exit 31/Langtree Road. The suspect vehicle utilized the Langtree Road bridge to return to I-77 northbound and then got off the interstate at Exit 36. Officers pursued the vehicle to the parking lot of 215 W. Plaza Drive.  A passenger who fled on foot was located by officers on the property and identified as Jessica Shackleford, 32, of Concord. Shackleford was charged with two counts of (M) Resist, Delay, and Obstruct. She was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under $2,500 secured bond. The dr...
