Overnight Shooting Leaves One Dead

MOORESVILLE, NC – Mooresville Police Department (MPD) Detectives are currently investigating an overnight shooting that resulted in one fatality. On September 8, 2024, at 11:14 p.m., Mooresville Police Department (MPD) Officers responded to a Discharge of Firearm call for service at Meadowlark Glen Apartments. Officers arrived on scene and found Clifton Cornelius Vandiver, 20 of Concord, with multiple gunshot wounds as a result of what appears to be an altercation between Vandiver and other parties. Vandiver was transported to Novant Huntersville where he succumbed to his injuries. MPD Detectives are actively investigating the incident, interviewing witnesses, checking cameras in the area, and looking for additional evidence at the scene. Police Searching for Missing Mooresville Teen

Mooresville Police Department Detectives are actively investigating a missing persons case for a Mooresville teen last seen in the Charlotte area.   Dalilah Kadence-Marie Taylor, 16, was reported as missing since Sunday, September 1, 2024. Taylor was last seen on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in the Sugar Creek neighborhood at several locations including a Cook Out restaurant. Based on video footage, she was last seen wearing a black shirt, black and white pajama pants, and Crocs.   If you have any information on Taylor’s whereabouts or if you see her, please contact Det. Mooresville Police Warn of Phone Scams

MOORESVILLE, NC – The Mooresville Police Department (MPD) is warning the public of ongoing phone scams in which scammers are impersonating law enforcement agencies. Scammers are impersonating MPD among other agencies by replicating real government phone numbers to appear legitimate. Scammers may reference a rank/title—often of a former MPD employee—to add credibility. The scammers are telling the victims that an arrest warrant has been issued for the victim. The scammer will then solicit money from the victim as an alternative to being arrested, most often the requested payment is in the form of cryptocurrency or gift cards.   If you happen to receive unsolicited phone calls similar in nature:  Do not feel pressured to act. Scammers may have some public information about you (like your name and address), but that does not mean their claims are legitimate.  Do not share your credit card number, personal information, or other financial information.  Do not wire/transfer funds to anyon

Stolen Vehicle Alerts Results in Multiple Arrests

On August 22, 2024, at 2:50 p.m., MPD Officers received an automatic license plate reader (ALPR) alert pursuant to a stolen motor vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 150/W. Plaza Drive at I-77. Officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of the Home Run Market. When Officers attempted to make a traffic stop, the suspect vehicle fled south on I-77 at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the vehicle south on I-77 until encountering heavy traffic near Exit 31/Langtree Road. The suspect vehicle utilized the Langtree Road bridge to return to I-77 northbound and then got off the interstate at Exit 36. Officers pursued the vehicle to the parking lot of 215 W. Plaza Drive.  A passenger who fled on foot was located by officers on the property and identified as Jessica Shackleford, 32, of Concord. Shackleford was charged with two counts of (M) Resist, Delay, and Obstruct. She was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under $2,500 secured bond. The driver

Stolen Vehicle Alerts Results in Multiple Arrests

MOORESVILLE, NC – Automatic license plate reader (ALPR) alerts for stolen vehicles resulted in Mooresville Police Department (MPD) arresting three individuals and serving more than 20 outstanding warrants. On August 22, 2024, at 12:41 p.m., MPD Officers received an ALPR alert pursuant to a stolen motor vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 150. Officers located the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Highway 150/River Highway and Williamson Road and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.  The suspect vehicle fled and was pursued by Officers south on Williamson Road. The driver abandoned the vehicle in a parking lot and fled on foot towards the Fountains Apartments but was apprehended by a MPD K9 and taken into custody without further incident.  The driver, Omarion Khibre Hinson, 19, of Albemarle, was found to have outstanding warrants out of Stanly County for (M) Probation violation, Failure to Appear for (M) Probation Violation, Failure to Appear for (F) Larceny of a Fi

MOORESVILLE, NC – On Friday, August 16, 2024, at 3:59 p.m., Mooresville Police Department (MPD) received a request for assistance from Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department pursuant to a black Ford Expedition entering MPD jurisdiction. The driver of the vehicle was said to have a felony warrant for his arrest and was considered to be armed and dangerous, actively fleeing from officers.  MPD Officers responded to the area of Highway 21and I-77, made contact with the fleeing vehicle as it exited I-77 onto Highway 21 via Exit 33, and began to assist CMPD in their attempt to apprehend. As the suspect vehicle continued to flee, the offender struck a marked MPD patrol unit and a civilian vehicle, resulting in minor damage and no injuries. The pursuit continued south on I-77 to the Sam Furr Road area where stop sticks were successfully deployed, and the vehicle became disabled. The offender jumped and ran from the vehicle prior to being apprehended by a MPD K9 during a brief foo

Overnight Structure Fire at 121 Indian Springs Drive Mooresville

OORESVILLE, N.C. – At 4:45 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024, Shepherds, South Iredell, Mount Mourne, Lake Norman, and Mooresville Fire units responded to a structure fire on Indian Springs Drive in Mooresville. Upon arrival, crews found a single-family residence with heavy fire involvement. Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and searched the structure for occupants. One firefighter was treated on scene and one firefighter was transported to a local medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries. The Iredell County Fire Marshal, Mooresville Fire Marshal’s Office, and Iredell County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating the incident.  No further details are available at this time.
